Calculation methodology

Sun position is calculated with equations based on NOAA/NREL methods. A vertical object shadow uses h/tan(elevation). The planner builds shadow polygons for rectangular obstacles and tests the point every 10 minutes.

Sun-position equations were checked against the public NREL Solar Position Algorithm example. Geometric relationships are documented in the project specification.
